Can I fix an error in XP Media Center with Windows XP Professional or Home Edition disk?

I have a computer that has Windows XP Media Edition 2002 Service Pack 3. He received some error messages that some files are corrupted or missing. I have no XP CD Media. I have the key 25 digits for her though. Can I fix it with XP Professional or Home Edition disc I? If I can what are the instructions step by step?
